Lisa Brady earned a Ph.D. in history at the University of Kansas in May 2003. As an environmental historian, she studies the relationships between humans and nature and how their interactions have evolved over time and place. Her current research examines the ways nature influenced the approaches to and outcomes of the American Civil War. She has presented at the national meetings of the American Historical Association, the American Society for Environmental History, the Society for Military History, and the Association of American Geographers. She has published several articles, including “The Wilderness of War: Nature and Strategy in the American Civil War” in the journal Environmental History. Brady is primarily a historian of American environmental history, but her work at the University of Sydney, Australia, where she earned an M.A. in Australian environmental history, and her interest in the global connections and implications of environmental issues will figure into her future research projects. |
