Fellowships The history department offers both research and teaching fellowships to outstanding applicants. Stipends range from approximately $8,000.00 to $10,000.00, and include a full fee waiver. Research and teaching assistants have shared office space with computer and telephone access. All new applicants to the masters program are automatically considered for research and teaching assistantships. Continuing students who wish to be considered must submit a letter of application (DOC) (PDF), and arrange for a letter of recommendation from their advisor by January 15, for the following school year. Teaching assistants work in classes with professors in the department. The courses that have TA's include the lower division sequences in US history and Western Civilization, as well as Eastern Civilization (History 111, 112, 101, 102, and 121). Research assistants work directly with professors on research projects. Examples of recent assignments include projects on Hispanics in Idaho, a study of a seventeenth-century cemetary in North Carolina, and research projects on historical public policy in the Boise area. Students interested in the Graduate Residential Scholars Program, which provides a stiped, fee waiver, and housing for excellent, qualified students, please refer to the Graduate College website. Scholarships are also available to graduate students. Applications are due February 15 of each year; please check with the department administrative assistant, Guen Johnson for more information. - Application for the Graduate Residental Scholars Program (DOC) (PDF)
