The Execution of Charles I

No pictures here, but a really fascinating series of reproductions of a newspaper. By the 16th centuries, Europeans were already producing regular newspapers. These were scanned by David Cornfield, who has put up a nice site to hold them:

David Cornfield's Original Historical Texts

The account of Charles' execution spreads across eight pages. The text can be difficult to read and begins here: http://www.adelpha.com/~davidco/History/charles1.htm.

The account of the actual execution is on pages 3 and 4, but the other pages are well worth a read.
