The Cathars
Here's a great path to follow. The Cathars were heretics in southern France, also known as Albigensians. I'll let you find out all the rest yourself.
This is the town of Albi.
And this is Carcassone, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in France.

A very famous battle was fought here at Monsegur (well, famous if you are reading about the Cathars). Where? I hear you ask. It's at the top of a mountain peak! Exactly. It was a pretty tough fight!

By now you are probably thinking, this is has to be the most scenic heresy in history. <grin> Those pretty castles on the Loire are one thing, but these castles here, these are "working class" castles, no?

One last town, Beziers. Such a tranquil scene. You have perhaps heard the phrase "kill them all and let God sort them out"? You'll also hear it as "kill them all, God will know his own" (the last clause varies, but the killing part stays consistent!).
See if you can find the connection between the statement and this town.
