The Renaissance
A Tour of Renaissance Art
I still have not created my own tour, so I'm sending you off to an excellent source--Nicholas Pioch's Web Museum. If you have a general interest in art, you might want to visit the paintings index of the site. There are sections for Gothic, Italian Renaissance, and Northern Renaissance, plus later works.
For this class, though, all you need do is visit some sample artists. Mr. Pioch has written a little biography and commentary for each of these people. Read that, and view at least one full-screen example of each image; you don't need to view them all, for download times can sometimes be painfully slow.
The most convenient way I've found for working through this tour is to open in a new tab. For example, right-click on Giotto and choose to open in a new tab. Read, look at the pictures, and when you're done, close the tab and you'll be back here. Rinse and repeat.
